The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) is aimed at assisting Australian employers to recruit people from overseas on a permanent basis. A visa application under the ENS is a two stage process.

• the employer must nominate the position to be filled; and
• the prospective employee must apply for the visa.

This visa is not only for highly skilled people from overseas but also for those who are currently in Australia on a temporary visa. In order to be considered for this visa, the applicant must:

• be under 45 years of age
• have Vocational English language skills;
• have an employer (sponsoring him/her in Australia); and
• have the necessary skills, qualifications and/or experience to fill the position

The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) is aimed at assisting Australian employers based in regional Australia to recruit people from overseas on a permanent basis.

This visa is not only for highly skilled people from overseas but also for those who are currently in Australia on a temporary visa. In order to be considered for this visa, the applicant must:

• be under 45 years of age
• have Functional English language skills;
• have an employer in regional Australia sponsoring him/her for a position, which is not less than 2 years in duration; and
• have the necessary skills, qualifications and/or experience to fill the position (at least an Australian diploma)
