Business Owner (Residence) (Subclass 890)

This is a permanent visa for people who currently have one of the following six Temporary Visas:

  • Business Owner (Provisional) (subclass 160)
  • State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Provisional) (subclass 163)
  • Senior Executive (Provisional) (subclass 161)
  • State/Territory Sponsored Senior Executive (Provisional) (subclass 164)
  • Investor (Provisional) (subclass 162)
  • State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) (subclass 165)

In order to be eligible for the grant of a Business Owner (Residence) (Subclass 890 visa, the applicant must:

  • continue his/ her ownership of one or two businesses in Australia;
  • continue to maintain direct involvement in the management of the business(es);
  • have assets of at least $100,000.00 in one or two businesses in Australia;
  • have at least $250,000.00 in personal and business assets;
  • have a turnover of at least $300,000.00 in one or two businesses in Australia in the last 12 months;
  • have had employed at least 2 full-time employees (or the equivalent) over the period of last 12 months. The employees must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens and must not be related to you.

State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Residence) (Subclass 892)

This is a permanent visa for people who currently have one of the following six Temporary Visas:

  • Business Owner (Provisional)
  • State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Provisional)
  • Senior Executive (Provisional)
  • State/Territory Sponsored Senior Executive (Provisional)
  • Investor
  • State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional)
  • Business (Long Stay) Independent Executive visa
  • Skilled – Independent Regional (Provisional)

In order to be eligible for the grant of a State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Residence) (Subclass 892), the applicant must:

  • continue his/ her ownership of one or two businesses;
  • continue to maintain direct involvement in the management of the business(es);
  • have assets of at least $75,000.00 in one or two businesses in Australia;
  • have at least $250,000.00 in personal and business assets;
  • have a turnover of at least $200,000.00 in one or two businesses in Australia in the last 12 months;
  • have had employed at least 2 full-time employees (or the equivalent) over the period of last 12 months. The employees must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, New Zealand citizens and must not be related to you.

Established Business in Australia (Subclass 845)

This visa is a permanent visa and has been designed for business people who have successfully established a business in Australia while ona temporary visa. The temporary visa, which the applicants were on can be any temporary visa other than a bridging visa, a criminal justice visa, a special purpose visa, a border visa, a diplomatic visa, a domestic worker visa or a transit visa..

The applicants for this visa must:

  • have a successful business career;
  • have been in Australia for at least 12 months prior to applying;
  • have held at least 10% ownership interest in one or two businesses in Australia;
  • have been directly responsible for the running of the business in Australia;
  • have total personal assets of at least $250,000.00;
  • have total business assets of at least $100,000.00;
  • satisfy the “Established Business in Australia” points test (at least 105 points).

Regional Established Business in Australia (Subclass 846)

This is a permanent visa designed specifically for holders of a Business (Long Stay) Visa (Subclass 457). The applicants for this visa must:

  • have owned a business in regional Australia for at least 2 years;
  • be sponsored by a state or territory government authority;
  • have been in Australia for at least 12 months in the last 2 years;
  • have a business turnover of at least $200,000.00 or exports of at least $100,000.00;
  • have personal assets of at least $200,000.00;
  • have business assets of at least $75,000.00;
  • have a successful business career;
  • have been directly responsible for the running of the business in Australia;
  • satisfy the “Established Business in Australia” points test (at least 105 points).
