| Public comment closes 1 December 2008 |

The 20th Darwin City Council has released its plan for an evolving Darwin, heading toward 2020 and beyond. The new Council, elected in March this year, has identified seven strategic issues that must be considered as the city and community grows.
The public are strongly encouraged to read and make comment on the plan. Copies are also available at Darwin City Council Public Libraries and the Civic Centre.

Exercise Stations and
Historical Markers
along Nightcliff Foreshore
Darwin City Council and the Northern Territory Government, through the Urban Enhancement Program, are currently undertaking to provide the residents of Darwin with a unique recreational facility in the form of Exercise Stations and Historical Markers along Nightcliff Foreshore.

Casuarina Library Upgrade - 4th Update now available
|
After 28 years, Casuarina Library is undergoing a much needed facelift. The library will close on 12 Sept for approx 10 weeks. This includes the after-hours return chute, so any outstanding items are to be returned to the City, Karama or Nightcliff Libraries.
The $1.2M upgrade will bring the library to a higher standard, providing the Darwin community with more advanced services and facilities.

The following changes will be in place during the closure:
- Casuarina Library's lunchtime Book Club will not be meeting until December.
- Babes’n’Books will be relocating to the City Library at 1.00pm on Wednesdays.
- Karama Library will be open on Sunday afternoons between 1.00 and 4.00pm.

Regional Management Plans are a requirement under the new Local Government Act 2008. For more information contact Dept. Local Government, Housing and Sport. 08 8999 8394.
The Darwin City Council has decided not to participate in the plan which is allowable under the Local Government Act 2008.

After Hours number change

Darwin City Council's emergency after hours number has changed.
As of 21 April 2008, the after hours number has changed from 0500 893 677 to 1800 099 557.

Draft Graffiti Management Plan

Council is working in partnership with the NT Police to address the rise of graffiti vandalism across the municipality.
As there are numerous ways to respond to graffiti, a draft management plan has been prepared and a process of community consultation has just been completed. For more information, please click below.
